Well, now that I am home again for at least 10 days, I was able to visit Tom today. When I arrived the nurse told me that Mary Ellen, Debbie, Richard and Claudia were all in a meeting with the doctors.
Tom wasn't very responsive today, and was much more so yesterday, so I was told. He did get a shave, so no more goatee...(we all know what that looked like on him before anyway!)
I met Tom's family when they came back in to his room, and everyone seemed to be doing okay. I have some medical information which Mary Ellen said I could and should share with his friends, but I obviously won't post it here. Please call me if you would like to know.
One of the parents of my students is a nurse in the operating room at Davies, and Mary came up to see me. She was terrific with Mary Ellen, and is her new best friend...LOL! Mary suggested that we might bring a photo or photos of Tom as we know him to be and put them in his room, so that everyone who comes into the room will know what he looks like...I think we can all agree we've seen Tom better... Mary Ellen loved the idea. I will find some pics and bring them in tomorrow when I visit. I also have an endless loop of Cher songs on my iPod that I'm going to play...if anyone can help, it's Cher! I do however love the American Treasure idea...heehee...
I am planning to go visit tomorrow around lunch time again.
